About Li'l Lines

A sort of introduction
Besides messing about on computers I also like to do arty things. One of the ways this is expressed could be defined as a 3 dimensional, semi-kinetic thing with a lot of scope. It came about as a result of a serious illness over 20 years ago, during which I spent many hours working on it to keep myself somewhat sane.

The concept is quite old - with John Constable's paintings as inspiration. Constable painted landscapes and in his work you would find a number of vignettes contained in the whole. Each of these could stand as a work of art by themselves. My like of narrow gauge railroads, coupled with the "Constable vignette" idea resulted in a model railroad where I would have a whole with smaller portions that could stand as seperate models. Plus, it moves, hence the kinetic bit.

Now I find myself wanting to get back into this after 15 years of corporate and web design. Computers are fine, but I need to do something that is physically creative. Having a website means I can publish a few things and have decided to create a sub-domain for this.

The images are of some stuff I did years ago and had hanging around from my old Li'l Lines site (it ran for about a year - though I did little model making during that time).
